Consignment Policy


How do I consign my items?

*  No appointment is necessary to drop off your items.  You are welcome to bring your items in anytime Monday - Friday during business hours.  At this time, we are not able to take in items on Saturdays.

*  Be sure to fill out a ‘Drop Off Slip’ each time you leave items. 

*  Please allow up to two weeks for your items to be priced and available for sale.

*  We accept clean, gently used, educational items.  Items can be curriculum, games, hands on projects, etc. for any age/grade.  If it is used for educational purposes, we will consign it for you.

*  Batteries need to be included if you consign electronics.  Games or items with multiple pieces need to be a complete set.

*  When items are dropped off for consignment, they need to be in purchase ready condition.  We will not clean or re-organize games or other items.


Pricing Details:

*  We price items anywhere from 40% - 70% of the current retail price.  The exact percentage will depend on the item condition, demand, etc.

*  If you have an item that you feel is quite valuable, please let us know on the Drop Off Slip in the Special Notes section.

*  We reserve the right to offer periodic sales on consignment items. 


How much money will I earn and how do I get paid?

*  You will receive either 50% or 45% of each item’s final sale price depending on if you would like store credit or check payment.  Details are listed below.

*  Store Credit – You will receive 50% of the selling price.  Your credit accrues and stays on your account until you use it.  Yes, you can use your store credit for any item in Creative Teaching Aids; it does not have to be used on consignment items only.

*  Check – You will receive 45% of the selling price.  Checks will be processed on the 15th of each month for consignors whose account has a minimum balance of $25.00 on the last day of the previous month.  You are welcome to call at any time to see if you have a check available.  Please have your consignor number available when you call.  If your check is not picked up by the end of the month, it will be mailed to you on the 1st of the following month to the address we have on file for you. 

*  We will not reissue lost, misplaced or expired checks. 

*  We do not charge item listing fees, check fees or processing fees.  We want to make consigning with us as easy as possible!


Returned Items/Not Consigned:

*  If time permits, we will do a quick look through of your items at the time you drop them off.  Any item that is noticeably unsellable will be given back to you.  As we actually price and enter your items for sale, we will look through your items more thoroughly to make sure items are in sellable condition.

*  On the Drop Off Slip you fill out when leaving items, you will see two choices for unsellable items.  1) We donate them. 2) You have 7 days from when we email you to pick up the items up. 

*  Please select ‘donate’ on the Drop Off Slip if you are not willing to return to the store to pick up unsellable items. 

*  If items are not picked up within 7 days, they will automatically be donated.       

*  Please note that we do not enter what is being returned to you in our system.  This means employees are not able to look up items to describe what is unsellable over the phone. 


How long will my items be kept to sell?

*  Our consignment period is 12  months from the day the item is added to your account.

*  Do not drop off any item you are not willing to leave for the full 12 month term!  Items cannot be removed from inventory prematurely other than by purchase.

*  Two weeks prior to the end of your consignment period, you are welcome to come locate and pull any of your unsold items.

*  We are unable to remind consignors to come in near the end of your consignment period.  You are responsible for keeping notes of your consignment dates.

*  At the end of the 12 month term, items that are not picked up or sold will expire in inventory becoming property of the store.  Items may be donated at that time at the discretion of Creative Teaching Aids. 


Anything else I need to know?

*  We are unable to notify each consignor as their item(s) sell or when a check is printed.  We encourage you to call to check your balance and/or to see if you have a check ready for pickup.

*  This policy may be updated at any time.

*  Please make sure your email is set up to receive emails from  We are not responsible for emails sent to your spam folder.

*  We will do our best to sell your items and hope you will be pleased with our process.
